Sailing academy
HISTORY
Mr Giorgos Giavouroglou and Mr. Tzortzis Kefallonitis are among the most successful sailing trainers of our country for the last fifteen years. Former athletes themselves they have led may children who later became athletes to winning many world, European and Hellenic championship titles in the optimist, laser, 4.20 and 4.40 categories. The secret of their success is the constant implementation of new ideas in the training together with co-operation of special to the purpose professionals like child-psychologists, dietologists e.t.c. During their many years in the sailing world they have been co-operating with the prominent sailing clubs in Greece, organized training camps and races with participation of foreign athletes. In addition they have participated in the 2004 Olympic sailing team and they have been since the year 2000 official trainers of the Special Olympics. In the year 2007 they have escorted the Special Olympics sailing team to Shanghai where their athletes won the gold and silver metal in their respective categories!
THE VISION
The sailing academy has been a dream for years in the mind of the founders. They wanted to develop a functional space which would simultaneously offer a pleasant, warm environment where through playing at first and with methodical work to continue children would be able to channel their energy to a beautiful sport. As a result new captains would evolve.
Today, after many years of persistent and hard work, the founders have managed to realize their dream and to create Sailing Academy, a unique athletic and multipurpose area of 10,000 M2 at the coast of Shinias, Marathons with many activities for adults and children.
THE AREA
The Academy is extended in an area of 10,000 M2 and is divided in five sections:

THE AREA

- • Indoor area where a café-bar, internet café, library, changing area
with shower, WC, teaching room with projector facility - • Areas are accessible for person with invalidities
- • Swimming pool with 250 m2 of surrounding area and 380 m2 of
café area - • At the beach children area, beach bar with 80 seats, umbrellas,
